It will be repeated on Sunday 1.20pm.
They went on a visit to the Army School of Equitation, they went to Germany to see Jessica and they had a woman Rosalind Mackey doing a little bit of Natural Horsemanship with them It was such a pity as they took no interest in her and they could have done with just the tiny bit of understanding. When they went to their 3rd and last show before the RDS the traveller guy cant think of his name did not compete in this either despite having a week of one to one tuition with another woman and god he was doing so well on his own away from the group.
A t the show one of the young lads took his frustrations out on the horse when he was riding it by giving it a thump on the shoulder, a big kick in the ribs and yanked the mouth off the poor horse all those in succession . If i was coaching him i would have taken more action than what was taken= nothing. It is a pity as people will look at this and see that lad did that and nothing was said to him.
I must say the horses are very good and put up with so much and take them over fences now if i was the horse.............

To be honest she tried her hardest, it was impossible to hear her becaure the others where abusing eash other she was saying horses can tell you differnt things by the way their lips are eg tight=tense but sure she did not get a look in at all as there was constant abuse going on in the background and diarmud giving his voice over commentry.
Such a pity as if there was more on Natural horsemanship on Irish telly more people may become interested and then there are those who practice this stuff already in their own quiet way without knowing it!!

I am not sure as a "newbie" to this site if i am answering posts correctly? I watched two of the episodes Of Diarmid's pony kids but i missed Rosalind. I had the pleasure of meeting her at Chris Irwin's Clinic where we sat with each other at dinner. We had a great chat about clicker training. She has spent time with Alexandra Kurland herself. I am sure she did her absolute best but you would need something special to make that bunch sit up and take notice! What i thought was a pity about the whole thing was how little credit the gave the kids (or the stables they came from) for achieving what they had already achieved. When i saw the initial footage of, was it Squeaky, riding his pony at the canter bareback, i thought what a beautiful image it was, the boy so in harmony with his horse, his pelvis moving rhythmically absorbing perfectly the motion of the horses canter. Then the next thing we see is Jessica shouting at them telling them in no uncertain terms how little they knew. It is true that they lacked finesse and yes they pulled to stop and kicked to go but i would love to have seen them educated about "feel" and making a connection with their horses. I saw the last episode and to me it looked as if they had just been put on a bunch of horses that knew their job and did it in spite of everything. I think a lot of thought would have to have gone into how to inspire these kids, and really get them thinking in a different way. I watched Chris Irwin work with the teenagers at the Festina Lente foundation. He was well able to inspire them and get them on his side, he was real clever about it, he appealed to their machismo but he got them to direct it another way. laura To be honest she tried her hardest, it was impossible to hear her becaure the others where abusing eash other she was saying horses can tell you differnt things by the way their lips are eg tight=tense but sure she did not get a look in at all as there was constant abuse going on in the background and diarmud giving his voice over commentry. I read in the paper that the pony kids are going to Olympia in London, hope Jessica and Ronan can get them back together and ready in time. Watched the last program and to see how thrilled theuy were by jumping in Dublin must have made up for some of the anguish felt by the two trainers when the kids didnt get everything to go to plan saw Jessica and Ronan watching them jump and talking to them, you would think in some ways they were their own kids ,they really wanted them to do well ,they were tough on them at times but I suppose its hard for both of them as they are probably hard on themselves when they compete. I thought it was something really different hope they get Jessica Ronan and Diarmuid to do something like it again.
