Vanessa Bee of www.positivehorsemanship.com is coming to my yard near Naas to run a two day course 'Basic Skills to Positive Horsemanship Level 1'. ;D The date is the 18th and 19th March. I want to thank Elaine for putting details of my course up on the main website. Its great to be able to get trainers into Ireland so vitally important that the course gets filled.

We've actually probably had enough interest to fill two courses. Vanessa likes to keep the groups small so that everyone gets what they need from the course. I'm pleased to say that she is willing to run two courses consecutively so we will be offering Friday/Saturday or Sunday/Monday.

Vanessa has trained with Ken Faulkner in Queensland but embraces ideas from many different methods of horsemanship. She says, "The whole idea around 'Positive Horsemanship' is that we look at all trainers. We certainly do not promote a single programme as we feel this is too constraining; we open people's minds to the possibilities of working with their horses rather than just doing things to them."

I for one am inspired and can't wait for Vanessa's visit. I hope to see you there.

The Positive Horsemanship handling courses took place this last weekend and were very well received.

Vanessa Bee is a really good trainer who has
studied with amongst others Monty Roberts, Ken Faulkner and Parelli. Very talented, positive,
committed, enthusiastic and encouraging. Absolutely brilliant! ;D

There was a broad spectrum of experience and history in the participants but everyone got something from the course. Its a shame that the weather was pretty poor but you don't seem to notice when you're interacting with your horse.

We have already made plans for a return visit in May to repeat this course and go on to ridden work. We are hoping to also include using a round pen and working with long reins. Please email me direct if you would like details. [e-mail]
