Do you have a horse that is difficult to load?
Don't forget that the lecture/ demo on 'The problem loader' is taking place THIS Saturday the 23rd June from 2 pm to 5 pm at Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary, just outside Antrim. The lecture demo is presented by Dr Helen Spence, equine behaviour and training consultant (for further information on Helen see the website http://www.helenspencehorsesense.co.uk) and costs £20. All profits go to the sanctuary, and this is a fantastic opportunity to see at first hand the valuable work done with Northern Ireland's needy equines at the sanctuary and to help raise funds for a very worthy cause. You will learn about the common causes of loading problems, how to train your horse in order to avoid having loading problems in the first place, and how to begin to work with horses that have developed a loading problem . The sanctuary are providing refreshments so please contact Helen on 07773 157428 before Friday tea time in order to confirm attendance!
Please bring your own folding chair if you wish to sit down as I am not sure that the sanctuary will have enough chairs available! The lecture/ demo will take place in the indoor arena so don't worry about the weather. Parking is on the road outside the sanctuary. Saturday is also the sanctuary's open day, and so a great opportunity to see around and learn more about Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary (CLAS). CLAS is a voluntary organisation primarily concerned with the rescue and rehabilitation of horses and ponies that have been abused and neglected, although they help many other animals too, from cats and dogs to rabbits and hens. They were granted charitable status in 1996 (Reg. Charity No. XR16305) and are now members of the National Equine Welfare Council and the Animal Welfare Federation of Northern Ireland. CLAS is unique in Northern Ireland as an education-based animal charity and their philosophy is that it is only through the education and re-education of animal owners that animal welfare in Northern Ireland can be improved. In a recent inspection CLAS was awarded gold standard, the highest attainable, in animal care by the National Equine Welfare Council.
