Hi there
The courses in September with Vanessa Bee of www.positivehorsemanship.com were again very well supported. Some new faces and some who have now done several of Vanessa's courses and can't seem to get enough (me included!)
She will be back again at the beginning of November to teach the following courses:
Clinic Day
Friday, 3rd November
For the first time in Ireland, Vanessa will be spending the day giving one to one lessons with previous course participants. She will be working on whatever they want to cover on the day. Participants must already have completed Basic Skills 1 for groundwork or Basic Skills 2 for ridden work but 'Active Spectators' are also welcome (no previous experience necessary). Cost just 30 euros to spectate for the day
including lunch. Pre-booking required.
Confidence Building for Horse Owners
Saturday, 4th and Sunday, 5th November
This course is equally of benefit to the not-so-confident horse owner or parents/partners and also to those with experience, in fact anyone looking to build their knowledge and confidence around horses. Time will be spent on looking at the nature of the horse and learn how to be safe when handling
horses. Vanessa has great respect for everyone's journey with horses and no-one will be put under any pressure to do anything that they do not feel confident about. She will also be happy to address any issues that you might have and help you to find a way to overcome them. You can bring your
own horse or may be able to borrow one of my ponies (please email me with details of your experience with horses).
Horse Behaviour and the Psychology of Training
Monday, 6th and Tuesday, 7th November
This sounds a very interesting course looking at the behaviour of the horsetowards his fellow horse and towards humans.
. we look at the language used by behaviourists
. we identify 'problems' and identify how the horse is
. expressing himself and why
. we look at rewards, punishment, negative and positive reinforcement in
training
. we look at training methods used by many different horsemen
. we will observe, in the field, how horses communicate with each other
. we examine how horses learn and use their senses to survive
. there will be case studies to discuss and evaluate, students being
encouraged to voice their opinions and observations
