I wonder will anyone of the guest speakers point out that a lot of young horses are started way to early and worked too hard too soon. not giving them enough time to develop and mature. A lot of behaviour problems lie here where there is a big expectation of at 3yrs old horses should be broken& riding have training shows done and a full season of hunting by 4 yrs. If Irish horses were given more time to develop and mature and less emphasis was spent on making money and more emphasis was focused on producing good horses who are willing to work through kinder techniques used in their early education, we would have greater Irish horses & we will continue to be known as a nation who produce good horses, At the moment i think the Irish horse has lost its credability a bit sometimes due to improper early handling, insensitive handlers and hard hands wanting to make a quick buck.......
ON a positive note is there anyone attending this ??

Unfortunately won't get down as I'm running out of days off at a caution. I went to a local tipp teagasc horse discussion evenign there a while back, so the speakers were good & informative, but what was brilliant was the open discussion amongst the group where you heard what other people were going through, etc and could exhange ideas, etc.
