Hi all,
I am new to this forum so not sure if I'm posting this correctly! Just wanted to hear about different ways people have experienced in training a young horse to stand.
I have recently been bought a 2 1/2 year old welsh cob and is a gorgeous boy and has been responding wonderfully to a bit of light lunging and ground work.
The only problem I am experiencing is he doesn't like standing still for long at all, which is a right pain when it comes to in hand showing! Any suggestions would be great! Many thanks!

Firstly Welcome to the forum! your question is a bit of "how long is a piece of string?" type question. so the only real answer is "It depends" Having said that maybe you should consider a few things before arriving at a solution: 1. you say:Making my young horse stand still.. is that what you really mean? or maybe it should read.. how do I get my horse to want to stand still with me? 2. why is he moving? fear? boredom? lack of interest? he knows of a better place to be? 3. what have you already taught him that would make him think he should be elsewhere? "to a bit of light lunging " mm? sorry to answer a question with a question but hopfully you get what I'm hinting at?
