Awarded on June 24th 2007 for outstanding work in the promotion of kind & gentle ways to handle and train horses, and for her work with her chestnut TB, a horse for whom the prospects weren't looking too good.
"Fionnuala was hunted before going to stud, where she did not come into foal. When she came to us she was extremeky nervous and I was told that she had been very roughly treated when sent to the stallion. She is now lovely to handle except for lifting her hind feet which we're working on. She was due to be sent to the mart"
Fionnula is an incredible horse, and even though she hasn't had a perfect life, she is one of the most gentle, willing, sensitive and intelligent horses you could have the honour to meet. She has all the potential required to make a beautiful soft, light, happy and confident high class ridden horse, and with a wonderful owner & trainer, she's in perfect hands.

Thanks, Bobstar and Elaine. Fionnuala (or Fleadh) is a very special mare. When I took her on I was surprised at how many people that I respect dearly thought that I had a deathwish! One good friend of mine even had a discussion with my farrier about how concerned they were that I had taken on a nut-case But her intelligence and kindness come shining through and over the six weeks that she has been with me she has changed from being a hysterical chestnut lunatic to a calm and nearly 100% trusting personality. Many many thanks to Elaine for being so supportive and for helping us to develop our relationship further
