Equine Biomechanics: “Equine biomechanics is the study of the structure and movement of the horse” With Jo Winfield FBHS
16 September 2010 at Brennanstown Riding School, Hollybrook, Bray, Co Wicklow
From 9.30am to 4pm (Pre-booking is essential)
Cost: - £20 per person or the equivalent in Euros (Lunch is included)
This training day will be of benefit to all those within equestrianism and is a Continual Professional Development Day for the BHS Register of Instructors. You will learn and develop an understanding of equine biomechanics.
Biomechanics is the study of structure and movement. Many riders and coaches use biomechanics in their day-to-day training without realising it - whether they are talking about riders staying 'on the movement', a horse that is 'on the forehand', bascules in jumping or hock flexion in piaffe.
You will see and understand horses being assessed standing still and moving on the lunge.
You will see and understand how the rider influences the way of going of the horse.
You will see and understand the biomechanics of jumping.
Discussion and interaction will be encouraged throughout the day.
Understanding biomechanics will help with developing each horse as an individual, it will help with the selection of particular training exercises to develop certain weaknesses and it will explain how we as riders must sit to assist each horse.
This is an essential training day for everyone interested in improving their understanding of and training of the horse and rider. The day counts as a Continual Professional Development day for BHS Registered Instructors.
