I have fed Simple Systems to my horses for several years now and would certainly not look back...The difference in physical appearance and more importantly mental attitude is amazing! As an Equine Dentist, Simple Systems is the only feed I reccomend especially to my more senior clients, many of whom without the dentistry and norishment of the feed wouldn't be here today. Thank you Jane and co. for coming to the rescue of such a confusing equine world!

i think that the lucie bix are great. my horses love them and it is good that they need to be soaked as it keeps them fresh. i like to know that my horse is eating good feed and with simple systems its nothing but good.

I have been using simple system for the past 6 years I would not feed my horse anything else keep up the good work

For nearly 2 years i have been in a quandry as to why i could not stop my horse from scouring (usually a few drops but at times been extreme). Many people were helpful in their advice but none of the suggestions tried would totally dry him up so to speak. I had always suspected he had problems with rich feeds containing sugar or molasses, especially the molassed sugar beet.
However since a firend who also keeps warmbloods suggested i try the simple system i haven't looked back and now my horse is totally dry. I use the linseed and lucie nuts- what a change! Also being a naturally hotheaded horse his temperament is calmer- less spooky etc.
However i also ensure that he is not fed rich hay or haylage and the present combination is perfect. All those concentrate feeds were doing him no good at all.
Well done Simple System. i now have a happy horse and a happier rider.

Hi,I'm a new member and based in Mayo.
I have an old pony with "iffy" teeth. I have been trying to get Simple Systems, over here with no luck. Do I have to go over on the ferry and fill my trailer up? Hope not!
One local guy told me that they used to produce something called grass meal years ago.
Any help would be very welcome!

hmmm.... ok found these two options anyway............ a friend of mine has a couple of retirement liveries at her yard both with teeth problems she feeds them (D&H) 16+ cubes and safe and sound with a bit of extra soya oil all of which is soaked for at least a couple of hours before feeding. Both are doing really well and have lovely shiny coats. They are also in general out 24/7 for spring, summer and autumn and come in at night in harsh winter. In winter she adds a bit of sugar beet as neither digest hay as well as they do grass so need a bit extra. Also they are on a veterans supplement possibly global herbs.

Heard of a 40 yo pony fed on sugarbeet and alfa A and high fibre nuts. Makes sort of a mash as his teeth are no longer any real use. They found the D&H alfa a to be the best as the strands are much shorter than other brands

I think you can get SS in Ireland, but you have to order it by the pallet so its quite expensive. Found this too:

I needed to find a substitute as G couldn't have cereals because of his cellulitis so between SS and Dengie (Dengie were super helpful) we came up with a near-as-dammit plan. We use Speedibeet, Grass Nuts and Alfa Oil with Pink Powder as the balancer. The only grass nuts I can get here are 16% so need careful handling as the "strongest" SS grass nuts (red bag) are 10%! The Alfa Oil is better than Alfa A as it has Oil not molasses (so sugar levels reduced), plus the oil is obviously useful and the speedibeet not ordinary SugarBeet pellets for the same reason - it's not molassed. NAF Pink Powder is a great all round balancer and supplement (also probiotic) for addition. You work out the amounts per horse - Dengie are v helpful here - dependant on work/type/type of doer/age etc etc. You can soak the grass nuts too for an oldie creating a nutritious "mush". I started feeding the fibre only diet for TheG but now would never go back to cereals/sugary diets. The growing/furnishing 6yo is also doing brilliantly on it -he is gaining condition steadily and has plenty of cool workable energy without the mad behaviours that cereals sometimes produce ..


Also: Allen and Paige have brought out fast Fast Fibre which soaks in a couple of minutes.
