How do you build up a good relationship with your horse? Are there certain things that work for all horses, or does it depend on the horse? Just for my horse, I've found making him feel safe, both through your actions and also not asking for too much too fast (explain things in small managable chunks and let them go away and think about it overnight works well for us), helping a horse to be brave by increasing their comfort zone, being 100% fair, acting with confidence and leadership and not accepting anything you don't want from your horse. All this has really helped me and we're both definitely more trusting of each other and more comfortable around each other this year compared even from last year. Leading from that... how do you know your horse has a good relationship with you? (not food related!) - also the fact that I try to be predictable I think helps. I think horses appreciate consistency.
