Hi, I'm new. The first time I've heard about the Horsemanship was two years ago. A year ago I became the owner of an Irish Draft mare, 7yrs. I started training her with the system 'Pat Parelli'. But it was really hard to train her because her previous owners didn't take care of her. She was scared of the whip, didn't like lounging, bridle and saddle. She was running with her head up. But I trained her : Not to be scared of the whip. Not to be scared of the bridle and saddle. When I lounge her she learned how to keep her head down and be quiet.... On this we had to stop training her because she was acting strange and she was feeling bad. AND Not long ago I got another horse Irish Draft/American Pinto. She is only three weeks old. I teach her 'Horsemanship'. I touch her everywhere, I try to pick up her feet, she knows her name and when I call her she comes over. I also learn 'natural barefoot trim' and now I trim my mares hooves myself.
