8-)hi i am new to the site - i live in kildare and am a mature rider - ie left it until my 30s to ride - so am challanged nerve wise!!! I am always looking for someone to gently hack out with/help me with stuff - at present i am looking for a horse after having my first horse for the last 3 1/2 yrs (which was an old riding school horse) who unfortunately have had to retire - with not much sucess so far - enjoying reading the posts and hope this will help me with my next horse .

Hello, you're very welcome. I know it's a bit far but if you're around maybe head down to our funday in March in Limerick. You'll meet lots of others who are both mature and not so mature riders On the subject of horses, I know Olivia (one of our trainers) had a lovely quiet guy a while back, might be worth getting in touch. She's excellent with horses as well, and would only suggest something she thought would suit you. Her site is: www.ojshorses.com. Also Diesel from Kildare has a nice loan horse...

Hi there,
I might be able to help.
I have a loan of a lovely quiet bay mare. She's 16'2 and 13 years old, a dream to handle and be around and loves attention. The reason she's up for loan is her owner travels a lot with work and can't give her the right attention and so I found her for a companion to my horse (who incidentally has proven to be a great teacher but very hard work) and also to get back into the saddle myself after some scares. I've ridden her out on her own, although naturally she's happier in company and she isn't fizzy at all. I hadn't been up for a couple of months but decided to take her out for a spin around the garden when we had all the snow after New Year, Great fun and Clarice was just as quiet as before.
If you want more information, feel free to reply to this and we can exchange no's. I'm also based in Kildare.
Good luck and it's lovely to hear your horse is having a nice retirement.

Hi
I live in Dublin but my horse is in livery in Kildare. I can relate to your lack of nerve - I keep telling myself "feel the fear and do it anyway"!!
By the way, anyone interested in organising a lesson in Kildare with Sean. Elaine tells me that if four or so interested people get together at a venue he will travel.

No plans now, clinic is off, bad time of year for people I suppose. Might check out this Parrelli thing in Kenmare...
