Hi all,
Just to let you know about a new and exciting development!
Over the next couple of months I will be running fortnightly 'Open Training nights' at Brookvale Farm, Saintfield, beginning this Thursday 7th May. Many thanks to Olivia Pele for providing great facilities and hospitality for these evenings.
These nights are a chance for you to come along and observe me teaching. Format of the night will be:
7pm Lesson number one- 45 mins followed by chance for questions and answers
8pm Lesson number two- 45 mins followed by chance for questions and answers
9pm debrief, further questions and answers and tea/ coffee/ biscuits!
You can come along and observe either or both lessons- audience fee is £5 per head per lesson, so if you stay all evening it will cost £10. You can come along to either or both and stay for the tea/ coffee/ chat after.
Lessons slots cost £20 and are currently both booked for the 7th, although there may be some availability for future nights, just enquire if you are interested.
The purpose of the evening is to give people the opportunity to 1. have a slightly reduced cost lesson (the privilege of being a guinea pig for the audience to watch!) and 2. find out a little more about how I work and the type of methods I use and 3. learn something useful in the process!!
Both sessions this Thursday are with young horses, one in the process of preparing for backing and one already backed and riding. I will most likely be focusing on ground work with these horses.
I will be working outside, so please wear appropriate clothing and bring yourselves a chair/ stool!
If you'd like more information either reply to this email with your queries or please phone me on 07773 157428
Don’t forget the clinics also running at The Burn through May and June, and I am working on a schedule for July and August plus extra dates for May and June at a variety of venues- once I have dates and venues confirmed there will be a newsletter winging its way towards you all!
If you have any suggestions/ requests for clinics/ talks and venues in the next few months, now is the time to contact me about them, as dates are booking up fast!

About Helen:
Helen’s way of working is a gentle, positive approach to horsemanship which improves the relationship & understanding between horse & rider through application of psychological theories, understanding of horse behaviour & ethology, natural horsemanship & classical riding principles.
This approach will be of use to everyone from novice to expert, but is particularly useful for young horses, the more nervous horse & rider or horses that are lacking motivation & enjoyment in their work.
Helen Spence has a PhD in horse behaviour & a degree in psychology. She teaches riding & lectures in horse behaviour to postgraduate level, runs clinics for horse owners & equine professionals & offers advice on behaviour problems. All behaviour problem consultations are seen on veterinary referral.
Helen is based in Dromara, Co. Down, but can travel further, by arrangement, for coaching sessions, clinics and talks.
