Folks - I am trying to find a reputable place that teaches western riding. By that I mean a place where the horses are looked after and where they are safe. I thought I had found somewhere (don't want to name it just in case). Went to check it out today without prewarning. Lucky I did. Suffices to say that what I saw was enough to make me not go beyond the front gate. Would be grateful for any info you can give me - preferable based on personal experience. Thanks Guys

Hi farro Ive been riding western for three or four years now and am lucky to own a really nice quarter horse. I went through the same process of trying to find "decent" tuition.I suppose at this stage Ive come across most of whats available and could honestly only recommend one "FIVE OAKS RANCH". Unfortunately their in Ballyshannon, Co.Donegal (071-9851030).I,m on the Limerick Cork border and its a five hour trip (six with the horsebox)but its a really brilliant place. I wouldnt be qualified to teach anybody anything (believe me I mean anybody! and I mean anything!) but I must have picked up a bit of info along the way. If you think I can help just ask. good luck Liam.

I think there was a guy who has won lots of competitions in UK for western who was based up in Donegal sometimes when he comes over to Ireland. Might be the same place. I have his DVD somewhere, must dig it out & watch it.

Hi Farro, It would help if one was to have an idea as to what neck of the woods you were in, a Provence or even a county would help ,don't see the point in someone from say Cork offering Help to someone in say Antrim

Hi Folks,
To answer some questions - I'm in Meath (well on the Meath/Westmeath border - near Delvin).
The place I went to check out and wasn't impressed was in Offaly
Have heard a number of good reports from Five Oaks - thinking of giving them a try.
Farro
