Sorry if this is in the wrong section, Elaine. I wasn't sure where to put it! I've had an idea and am wondering if anybody thinks it is a good one I was just telling Dave that I'd love to get Mark Rashids book 'Horses never Lie'. He said that we need a NH library! Thats when I had the Book Club idea. We could compose a list of books. Everyone can add to the list, depending on what they want and what they recommend. We could each buy one, read it and then swap them. Maybe it would be too much trouble? Just an idea!

What'd be the best way to do it? What if everyone who wanted to be in it put up a book, and then we could swap them around amongst us? It'd be nice to have a good library alright I have that Mark Rashid book you wanted

I've got loads of books & DVDs, I can't read them all at once! Let me know what you want and I'll tell you if I have it. Any suggestions about security though - While I'm happy to lend, I hate loosing track of a member of my book family! Lesley

True. What if everyone gave in the same amount of books (e.g. 2).... and got then got 2 different ones back in return. Then everyone would still have 2 books each, just not their two books. Then swap your new two books with anyone else in the club for a different 2 books (track it on here), and have an end date where all books must be returned to their owners? If you were really busy/didn't get around to it then you could take a month or two to read the books, or if you were quick you could have swapped your two books lots of times. What way to book swap clubs normally work? Anyone ever done one before? (Aside from poor drifter who gave me a round-pen DVD two months ago and I still haven't watched it, though I have offered it back to him twice... )

Thats pretty much what I was thinking.
Swap a set number of books and have a Return Deadline. But we could be relaxed about it and be leanient on this! We would need some way of keeping track, maybe a spreadsheet?
There would have to be an agreement that the books were looked after and if any damage was caused, it must be replaced.
Only thing I'm thinking is the postage. Some books might be expensive to post, so we might have to think of another way to swap. I vote more fun days!!

Yes postage might be a problem, specially from the North. I can "donate" 2 horsey novels to the ring - "In the Presence of Horses" by Barbara Dimmick - American, "a magnetic, haunting novel of emotional healing and self-discovery" and "Cut Throat", Lyndon Stacey - "Jealousy and greed form a deadly alliance in the highly charged world of international Showjumping."

Maybe if every one interested brings there own books /dvd (labeled) to a funday. Spread them out on a table, so you can see what kind of books they are and any one interested writes their name on a list, which is being managed by one person, possibly Jenny. And takes them back the following funday or so.
