14.06.09 Wasn't certain how our play time was going to go when I first went out to K because he wanted to be with me but for whatever reason, didn't want to be caught! After a few 'i dont want you/well that makes me want you' games he gladly stood for the halter (thanks Elaine;got that from your book ) I did accidently hit him on the face at one point Not very hard but enough to make him grunt at me This highlighted his developing trust in me though, because he let me touch that area again immediately and even continue our game. If that had happened before he wouldn't have let me near him again, and he'd have ran away anyway. Did the games 1-6 but with my new ideas, also inspired by Elaines book, I decided to jazz it up a bit. Instead of just standing at KKs' head whilst swinging the string and slapping the ground I sort of did a happy dance (haha) around him! Even standing right at his bum and slapping it on the ground in the direction of his front, if you know what i mean! I was jumping about and the stick and string were flying and he just stood! I figured its no good if he's only brave about things ahead of him; what about the things behind and at the sides of him? Circling game is improving all the time, but I'm desperate for the next fun day where Sean will hopefully give me some assistance! Today he responded to the HQ yield immediately (even on the blind side) without me having to give a slight tug on the rope. My body language must be getting clearer and more positive! The Sideways game has been a bit iffy so I came up with a plan I started jumping fom one side to the other and he followed me with one foot eachway and then i started running around him basically FQ yielding him. At this stage he was thinking "bloody hell! what the hell is she at! Im getting dizzy" and I suddenly started into the sideways game and he did it like an old pro!!! Not sure if thats the best way to go about it but it worked and we had fun! We finished up with some 'stopping and starting when i stop and start' games. He was good at these and I could see his thoughts rolling around his head! He walked on, stopped and backed up whenever I did! It was great! Instead of dragging him around (or him dragging me around!!) I could literally see him waiting for my next move! He didn't anticipate once (which he would have done before) and he just waited for me to ask him to do the next thing. I have a super cob!

All I needed was a head dress and to shout oioioioioi whilst waving my hand over my mouth and someone would have called the men in the white coats!!

24.06.09 Haven't been on here in ages! Things are going well. Having both up and down days. Today we did some games in the morning and in the evening I hopped up both saddleless and bridleless! I have never ridden KK without a bridle before and I'll admit I was terrified at first!! Didn't do a lot. Worked on the go and stop aids and did lots of lateral flexion as you'll see.... Dave then popped up, well, after a while! He attempted to mount from the 'wrong' side and K was less than impressed! He tried to leg it a few times! After a bit of desensitizing, Dave was getting up one side and off the other without fuss. Here are some pictures. Excuse the state of me and the odd socks! And the big goofy smile was me trying to stop myself from being scared!! I love my little cob

Thanks for the positive comments everyone! Keep them coming! 27.06.09 Had a short but very sweet session today. I was very happy with what we did. We did the first 5 games, but did them very well Had problems with going anti-clockwise in the circling game. It seemed we kept setting ourselves up for clockwise and I couldnt work out how not to! Anyway, the main thing is we eventually got a very good circle in both directions so we were very proud that we did it by ourselves! We finished off with more friendly game which KK appreciated greatly because it kept the flies away for a while! Still don't feel like we are going very forwards! But I suppose it's a slow process Can't wait for the fun-day. I've got so many questions for Sean!! Cookies and coffee for those of you who are keeping track on us! xx

25.07.09 Very exciting evening! Got my confidence up and headed out to K with his new bitless bridle and his saddle (I intend to buy a western one!). Was a bit more difficult for him to allow me catch him this evening because the 'dreaded tack' was there too but got him after about 6 or 7 minutes. Friendly game and then tacked up We rode around the field, just letting Kainer go where he wanted to but with the intention of keeping him moving with a 'squeeze, cluck, spank'. He did brilliantly, although, for some reason we were doing a lot of very small on the spot circles!! We did loads of trot and even a few strides in canter and afterwards, Dave hopped up and had a good canter and trot around the field Kainers' brakes were quite good, and we even backed up every time we halted! Here are a few pic's, but some are a bit dodgy!!

Well, as most of you know, kainer came a long way on Saturday! Went out to the field yesterday evening and picked up all four feet and picked them out with no hassle what-so-ever Even picked them all up from one side which confused Kainer a bit lol. Sean, I hope you feel the same level of happiness as I do about being able to do this!! Dave did the initial work, but I would never have picked them up myself if it wasn't for you and the gang that helped on Saturday! Thanks for the support and encouragement everyone!!
